Timber House.
Status: Construction.
Architectural proposals for a front, rear and side extension in south Manchester. The proposals look to maximise access to the garden through bi-fold doors, plus an outdoor bar area which is linked to the kitchen via a servery. The south facing rear elevation maximises views out to the garden, whilst large overhangs in the façade create much needed shade from the sun.
Both front and rear extensions are clad in larch timber which is to age over time, softening the elevation against its surroundings. The timber is complimented by light grey metalwork to the window and door frames throughout. This muted tone is reflected inside where the material palette is calm and welcoming, characterised by a series of timber fins that make up the ceiling. A durable and tactile floor finish links the interior to outside, allowing a seamless transition between the two spaces.
