Timber House.

Status: Stage 5 (Construction).

Architectural proposals for a front, rear and side extension, plus loft conversion in south Manchester. The design looks to dramatically increase the size of the property, maximising its full potential. The south facing rear elevation creates better access and views out to the garden, whilst large overhangs in the façade provide much needed shade from the sun.

Both front and rear extensions are clad in larch timber which is to age over time, softening the elevation against its surroundings. The timber is complimented by darker metalwork to the window and door frames throughout. This muted tone is reflected inside where the material palette is calm and welcoming, characterised by a series of timber fins that make up the ceiling. A durable and tactile floor finish links the interior to outside, allowing a seamless transition between the two spaces.
